Will It Sew? Care and Cleaning of Antique Sewing Machines
Do you have an antique or vintage treadle sewing machine you would like to get running again, but don't know where to start? Let's see what it takes to make it sew! You will need your machine head, sewing machine tool kit (screwdrivers, etc.) and the machine manual (if you have it). We will go through the process of cleaning, oiling, and threading the machine. If it fits in one of our tables, we can even put the belt on and see if it sews! -Please note that our specialty is long shuttle or round bobbin machines from about 1870's - 1930's, but we are always willing to take a look! This class will cover the 5 basic types of antique machines and provide resources to learn more about yours. For questions or comments please contact Ushers Ferry at 319-286-5763.
